1. Your Right to Data Deletion
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), the Bangladesh Personal Data Protection Ordinance (PDPO) 2025, and other applicable data protection laws, you have the right to request the deletion of your personal data from Walima's systems.
When you submit a data deletion request, Walima will permanently remove your personal information from our active databases within 30 days of verification.
2. What Data Will Be Deleted
Upon processing your deletion request, the following data will be permanently removed:
- Your profile information (name, age, bio, preferences, religious details, education, career, and family information)
- All uploaded photos and identity verification documents
- Chat messages and communication history
- Match history and interest records
- Saved searches and partner preferences
- AI-generated compatibility data and match scores
- Payment information stored on our platform (payment gateway records are managed by SSLCommerz, bKash, Nagad, or Stripe)
- Device tokens, login history, and session data
- Biodata generated through our Biodata Generator tool
⚠️ Data Retention Exceptions
Certain data may be retained as required by law, including transaction records for tax and accounting purposes (up to 6 years), data necessary for fraud prevention and safety, data required to comply with legal obligations or court orders, and anonymized aggregate data that cannot identify you.
3. How to Request Data Deletion
You can delete your data through any of the following methods:
In-App Deletion
Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account in the Walima app or website.
Email Request
Send an email to privacy@walima.app with your registered email and phone number.
Online Form
Fill out the data deletion request form below on this page.
4. Processing Timeline
- Acknowledgment: Within 48 hours of receiving your request
- Identity Verification: We may contact you to verify your identity within 5 business days
- Data Deletion: Completed within 30 days of successful verification
- Confirmation: You will receive a confirmation email once deletion is complete
5. Important Notes
- Data deletion is permanent and irreversible. Once deleted, your profile, photos, messages, and all associated data cannot be recovered.
- If you have an active Premium Subscription, please cancel it before requesting deletion. No refund will be issued for unused subscription time upon voluntary account deletion.
- Messages you sent to other users may still appear in their chat history, but your name and profile information will be anonymized.
- If you connected via Facebook Login or Google Sign-In, deleting your Walima account does not affect your Facebook or Google account.
